De facto Segregation
De facto Segregation, as shown by the picture above, is a type of segregation that is based on customs and beliefs which took place in the North and partly in the South. The photograph above shows a company sign that segregated the restrooms based on skin color.
De Jure SegregationDe Jure segregation was yet another type of segregation in which people, that is blacks, were segregated by law. This mainly occurred in the south. To the right you can see an example of de jure segregation.

This is another picture of deficit segregation. It shows that the waiting room was separate for blacks to keep them away from whites. It is sad that people of two different colors could not even sit by each other just to wait for something.

This picture again shows de jure segregation due to the fact that the school is segregating against its students. The school is a government funded program and is there for by the law. This shows that de jure segregation is taking place within the school system and these people are trying to prevent it.

The White Response
The white response involved many forms of harassment of protesters, whether it be verbal or physical. Many of the whites at this time thought against these views and acted out against them with irrational behavior.

To the left is a photograph of the bombed bus from the Freedom Rides. The violence was unbelievable because the protesters did nothing, yet they were punished. The white community pulled people out of the bus and beat them. Along with this, they fire bombed the bus and destroyed it.
